Surah Al-Asr is the 103rd chapter of the Quran and contains only three verses. The meaning of “Al-Asr” is literally “The Time” or “The Passing Time.” This small Surah reminds people about the need to use time judiciously. It tells about man’s loss, and that man is in a state of loss save for those who live in faith, carry out good deeds, and pass on to others the message of patience and constancy. Surah Al-Asr is outstanding for being the best and most convincing reminder that a person should gain the maximum from time and live a life of faith, good deeds, and patience.
