Surah Al-Baqarah – Read & Download PDF

Introduction of Surah Al-Baqarah

The second chapter of the Quran, Surah Al-Baqarah, is considered the longest Surah in the Holy Book, compiled of 286 verses. It is named literally to mean “The Cow,” as it is named in relation to the important lesson story of a famous cow within this blend of verses. It is considered a guide for Muslims in all aspects—faith, practice, and community life—revealed in Medina.

It starts by defining the traits of actual believers, stressing such actions as faith, prayer, and following the divine path. Tales from previous prophets, such as Adam, Ibrahim (Abraham), and Musa (Moses), from whose life lessons are drawn and based on moral and spiritual teachings, form a portion of the surah. A great deal of information detailing the basic laws and standards for social justice, financial transactions, family matters, and other similar issues in constituting a fair and just society is provided within the surah.

One of its most significant parts is Ayat al-Kursi, a verse renowned for its deep message regarding God’s dominion and knowledge. This Surah guides individual behavior and enunciates unity and togetherness within the Musalman Brotherhood. Its teachings continue to influence and inspire Muslims around the world.
