Six Kalimas in Urdu, English, and Hindi with Transliteration
These 6 kalmay are essential parts of Islam and affirm the Muslim Faith. Each Kalma has its necessary Creedal Statements, Educational Tools, Spiritual Practice, Unity and Identity and Defense against False Beliefs.
1. First Kalimah : Kalimah Tayyibah (Purity)
This kalma shows the Ones of Allah Almighty and The Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) as the last messenger of Allah.
Translation:
There is no god but Allah, [and] Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.
Transliteration:
Laa ilaaha illal Lahoo Mohammadur Rasool Ullah
لَآ إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَّسُوْلُ الله
First kalma in Hindi:
“ला इलाहा इलल्लाहु मुहम्मदुर्रसूलुल्लाहि”
First kalma in Urdu:
اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں محمّدؐ اللہ کے رسول ہیں
2. (Second Kalimah) Kalimah Shahadah (Testimony)
This Kalma emphasizes belief in the absolute oneness of Allah and Muhammad as His Messenger.
Translation:
I bear witness that (there is) no god except Allah; the One alone, without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His Servant and Messenger.
Transliteration:
Ash Hadu Allah Ilaha Illallaahu Wah Dahu La Sharika Lahu Wa Ash Hadu Anna Muhammadan Abduhu Wa Rasooluhu
أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَّآ إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ
وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ
وَأَشْهَد أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُوْلُهُ
Second kalma in Hindi:
“अशहदु अल्लाह इल्लाह इल्लल्लाहु वह दहु ला शरी-क लहू व अशदुहु अन्न मुहम्मदन अब्दुहु व रसूलुहु ”
Second kalma in Urdu:
میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں وہ اکیلا ہے اسکا کوئی شریک نہیں اور میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ محمد ﷺ اسکے بندے اور رسول ہیں
3. Third Kalimah: Kalimah Tamjeed (Glorification)
This Kalma shows how great and amazing Allah Almighty is.
Translation:
Exalted is Allah, and praise be to Allah, and there is no deity except Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. And there is no might nor power except in Allah, the Most High, the Most Great.
Transliteration:
Subhanallaahi Wal Hamdulillaahi Wala Ilaha Illallahu Wallahu Akbar Wala Haula Wala Quwwata Illa Billahil Aliyyil Azeem
سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ
وَلَآ إِلٰهَ إِلَّااللهُ وَاللهُ أَكْبَرُ
وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيْم
Third Kalma in Hindi:
“सुब्हानल्लाही वल हम्दु लिल्लाहि वला इलाहा इलल्लाहु वल्लाहु अकबर वला हौल वला कुव्वता इल्ला बिल्लाहिल अलिय्यील अज़ीम ”
Third Kalma in Urdu:
اللہ کی ذات پاک ہے اور سب تعریفیں اللہ کیلئے ہیں اور اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں اور اللہ بہت بڑا ہے اور گناہوں سے بچنے کی طاقت اور نیک کام کرنے کی توفیق اللہ کی جانب سے ہے جو بہت بلند اور عظمت والا ہے۔
4.Fourth Kalimah: Kalimah Tawheed (Unity)
Shows the oneness and uniqueness of Allah Almighty without partners.
Translation:
(There is) no god except Allah – One is He, no partners hath He. His is the Dominion, and His is the Praise. He gives life and causes death, and He is Living, who will never die. He of Majesty and Munificence. Within His Hand is (all) good. And He is, upon everything, Able (to exert His Will).
Transliteration:
La Ilaha Illallahu Wahdahu La Shareeka Lahu Lahul Mulku Walahul Hamdu Yuhyi Wa Yumeetu Wa Huwa Hayyul La Yamootu Abadan Abada Zul Jalali Wal Ikraam Biyadihil Khair Wahuwa Ala Kulli Shayin Qadeer.
لَآ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهٗ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهٗ
لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَ لَهُ الْحَمْد
يُحْىٖ وَيُمِيْتُ
وَ هُوَحَیٌّ لَّا يَمُوْتُ اَبَدًا اَبَدًاؕ
ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَالْاِكْرَامِؕ
بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُؕ وَهُوَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شیْ ٍٔ قَدِیْرٌؕ
4th kalma in Hindi:
“ला इलाह इल्लल्लाहु वह्दहु ला शरीक लहू लहुल मुल्कू व लहुल हम्दु युहयी व युमीतु वहुवा हय्युल ला यमूतु अबदन अबदा ज़ूल जलालि वल इकराम बियदिहि-हिल खैर वहुवा अला कुल्ली शैइन क़दीर ”
4th kalma in Urdu:
اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں وہ اکیلا ہے اسکا کوئی شریک نہیں، اسی کی بادشاہی ہے اور اس کے لیے تمام تعریفیں ہیں۔ وہ زندہ کرتا ہے اور وہی مارتا ہے۔ اور وہ ہمیشہ کیلئے زندہ ہے وہ مرے گا نہیں، وہی عظمت اور بزرگی والا ہے ، بہتری اسی کے ہاتھ میں ہے اور وہ ہر چیز پر قادر ہے۔
5. Fifth Kalimah: Kalimah Istighfar(Penitence)
Rejects disbelief and affirms belief in the Prophethood Hazrat Muhammad (SAW).
Translation:
I seek forgiveness from Allah, my Lord, for every sin I committed knowingly or unknowingly, secretly or openly, and I turn towards Him from the sin that I know and the sin that I do not know. Certainly, You (are) the knower of the hidden things and the Concealer (of) the mistakes and the Forgiver (of) the sins. And (there is) no power and no strength except from Allah, the Most High, the Most Great.
Transliteration:
Astagfirullaha Rabbi Min Kulli Zambin Aznabtuhu Amadan Aw Khtaa An Sirran Aw Alaniyatan Wa Atoobu Ilaihi Minaz Zambil Lazi Alamu Wa Minaz Zambil Lazi La Alamu Innaka Anta Allamul Guyoobi Wa Sattaril Uyoobi Wa Gaffariz Zunoobi Wala Hawla Wala Quwwata Illa Billahil Aliyyil Azeem.
اَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ رَبِّىْ مِنْ كُلِّ ذَنْۢبٍ
اَذْنَبْتُهٗ عَمَدًا اَوْ خَطَا ًٔ سِرًّا اَوْعَلَانِيَةً وَّاَتُوْبُ اِلَيْهِ
مِنَ الذَّنْۢبِ الَّذِیْٓ اَعْلَمُ وَمِنَ الذَّنْۢبِ الَّذِىْ لَآ اَعْلَمُ
اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوْبِ وَ سَتَّارُ الْعُيُوْبِ و َغَفَّارُ الذُّنُوْبِ
وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللهِ الْعَلِىِّ
الْعَظِيْمِؕ
5th Kalma in Hindi:
“अस्तग़फिरुल्लाहा रब्बी मिन कुल्ली ज़म्बिन अज्नब्तुहू अमदन अव खता अन सिर्रन अव अलानियतन व अतूबू इलैह मिनज़ ज़म्बिल लज़ी आलमु व मिनज़ ज़म्बिल लज़ी ला आलमु इन्नका अंता अल्लामुल गूयूबी व सत्तारिल उयूबी व गफ्फारिज़ ज़ुनूबी वला हौला वला क़ुव्वता इल्ला बिल्लाहिल अलिय्यिल अज़ीम | ”
5th Kalma in Urdu:
معافی مانگتا ہوں اے میرے اللہ ہر گناہ سے جو میں نے جان بوجھ کر کیا ہے یا بھول کر کیا ہے ،در پردہ یا کھلم کھلا اور میں توبہ کرتا ہوں اسکے حضور میں اس گناہ سے جو مجھے معلوم ہے اور اس گناہ سے جو مجھے معلوم نہیں،بے شک تو عیبوں کو جاننے والا اور عیبوں کو چھپانے والا ہے، اور گناہوں سے بخشنے والا ہے اور گناہوں سے بچنے کی طاقت اور نیک کام کرنے کی طاقت اللہ ہی کی طرف سے ہے۔ جو شان اور عظمت والا ہے۔
6. Sixth Kalimah: Kalimah Radde Kufr (Rejecting Disbelief)
Rejects disbelief and affirms belief in the oneness of Allah.
Translation:
O Allah! I seek protection in You because I should not join any partner with You and I know of it. I seek Your forgiveness for that which I do not know. I repent from it (ignorance) and I reject disbelief and joining partners with You and of falsehood and slandering and innovation in religion and tell-tales and evil deeds and the blame and the disobedience, all of them. I submit to Your will and declare that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and Muhammad is His Messenger.
Transliteration:
Allahhumma Inni Aaoozubika Min An Ushrika Bika Shai Aown Wa Anaa Aalamu Bihi Wa Asthaghfiruka Lima La Aalamu Bihi Tubtu Anhu Wa Tabarratu Minal Kufri Washshirki Wal Kizbi Wal Geebati Wal Bidati Wan Nameemati Wal Fawahishi Wal Buhtani Wal Maasi Kulliha Wa Aslamtu Wa Aqoolo Laa Ilaaha Illallahoo Mohammadur Rasool Ullah.
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّیْٓ اَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ اَنْ اُشْرِكَ بِكَ
شَيْئًا وَّاَنَا اَعْلَمُ بِهٖ وَ اَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا لَآ اَعْلَمُ بِهٖ تُبْتُ عَنْهُ وَ تَبَرَّأْتُ
مِنَ الْكُفْرِ وَ الشِّرْكِ وَ الْكِذْبِ وَ الْغِيْبَةِ وَ الْبِدْعَةِ وَ النَّمِيْمَةِ
وَالْفَوَاحِشِ وَ الْبُهْتَانِ وَ الْمَعَاصِىْ كُلِّهَا وَ اَسْلَمْتُ وَ اَقُوْلُ
لَآ اِلٰه اِلَّا اللهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَّسُوْلُ اللهِؕ
6th Kalma in Hindi:
“अल्लाहुम्मा इन्नी ऊज़ुबिका मिन अन उशरिका बिका शय अव व अना आलमु बिही व अस्ताग्फिरुका लिमा ला आलमु बिही तुब्तु अन्हु व तबर्रअतू मिनल कुफरी वश शिरकी वल किज्बी वल गीबती वल बिदअति वन नमीमति वल फवाहिशी वल बुहतानी वल मआसी कुल्लिहा व अस्लमतु व अकूलू ला इलाहा इल्ललाहू मुहम्मदुर रसूलुल लाह |”
6th Kalma in Urdu:
آے اللہ میں پناہ مانگتا ہوں اس بات سے کہ میں کسی شے کو تیرا شریک بناوں جان بوجھ کر،اور بخشش مانگتا ہوں میں تجھ سے اس شرک کی جو میں جانتا نہیں ہوں اور میں نے اس سے توبہ کی اور بیزار ہوا کفر سے، شرک سے، اور جھوٹ سے، اور غیبت سے، اور بدعت سے ، اور چغلی سے ، اور بے حیائی سے، اور بہتان سے اور تمام گناہوں سے اور میں اسلام لایا اور میں کہتا ہوں کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں اور محمد ﷺ اللہ کے رسول ہیں۔
